Glossary

We figure that we have people listening from all over the world. We are going to use this page to educate our listeners on the words that may not be familiar to them. Some will be English slang, some will be from Yankee-Doodle land.

Argie-Bargie
A term used to describe people pushing and shoving each other. Usually it only used when the violence is a bit lame and doesn't amount to much.



B

Boot Fair (or Boot Sale)
Like an american Yard Sale. Instead of selling junk from your driveway, you job hundreds of other people in the middle of a big muddy field and sell junk out of the boot (Trunk) of your car.



C

Coldfusion
The greatest language known to man (and woman). Wikipedia claims that there are critisisms of the language but we proved them wrong in Season 1, Episode 1. In reality, it just has one minor gripe.



D

Dirty French
We're not saying that all French people are dirty, we're just saying that we've never met a clean one. If you are a Dirty Frenchman, please don't listen to our Podcast

The Electronic Entertainment Expo used to be the greatest Video game event on Earth but now, with a new smaller format, it's shite.



F

Fuzz
An English slang term meaning the Police. The law enforcement kind, not the band led by Sting. The term has recently been introduced to the American audience through the movie Hot Fuzz

Hoisted by their own Petard
A Petard is a small bomb that used to be used primarily to blow up a gate. According to Dictionary.com, to be hoised by one's own petard is to "hurt, ruined, or destroyed by the very device or plot one had intended for another."
Horses-for-Courses
A Horse racing reference. Describes the fact that you bet on specific horses based upon the track and conditions they are running on. Used to illustrate that specific products or solutions can be better suited to specific situations.

Pants
Used to refer to something that's not very good. Example: The LA Galaxy are pants.
Pop-Out
Leaving your current location for a short period of time with the intention of returning.

Return of the Jedi
The greatest Star Wars movie ever made. In Episode 3 of IsThatWhatYouThink.com, Stuart explains the 'triple pronged finale' theory.



S

Shite
Used to describe something bad by comparing it to human excrement. It's considered a less offensive way of saying shit. Originated in the North of England.
Slapper
An English version of a trashy girl, usually refers to someone who's a bit easy.
Soup-to-Nuts
A phrase used to describe a process from start to finish. Derives from the process of eating a meal, starting with soup and ending with nuts and a whole lot of courses in between.
